Mwange Computer Training Center Project Coordinator Blog - August 2009

Intake 12 started on 4 August 2009, one day behind schedule, as the third was a holiday (Farmers’ holiday). As stated in the previous blog, the duration of this intake is 4 weeks, hence ending on the 28th, which will also be the date when we will post a new list for intake 13.

The average number of male students is 32 while that of female students is 15. Fewer female applied this time around, leaving the males to offset the difference. The repatriation exercise that is taking place this month will rob us of our students. The majority of our students are dependents of their parents or guardians. The will be forced to repatriate even when they have not completed their courses.

Other disturbance in our program will be because of absence of some of our students who are Jehovah Witnesses. They will have a 3-day assembly, from 17 to 19 August 2009. I hope they will catch up once they return, as they will only have one week left before the end of this intake.

Apart from those disturbances, everything is going as planned. The power situation is stable and the viruses on the computers are manageable.
