i – SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

August went on pretty well in terms of my academic activities. I had three weeks of learning and one week of study break. Otherwise, I supposed to have two weeks of learning and two weeks of exam study break. This did not happen because we had an extra week of learning with lecturers whom we had not yet finished the modules with. The three weeks of learning have been progressive and educative as usual. I had a chance to learn about how to writing a professional and winning business plan in my entrepreneurship class. This is a great skill acquired. It will help me a lot in the corporate world; for both personal investment and job demands. I as well got introduced to project planning, implementation, control and evaluation, and closure in my project management module. This has been one of the modules I have found interesting in this semester. It is on the ground that the skills I have acquired in this module are necessary for my career, for they cut across professional boundaries. Besides, my last classes in sexual reproductive health were based on a relationship built in comparison of sexual reproductive health and sustainable development. It has been inspiring to see how our little individual decisions could affect our lives and the ones for our children for years and years. The topic of sustainable development had introduced me to the health consuming patterns that can bring about individual and communal development. Furthermore, I had classes in legal aspects for NGOs and they were incredible. The August three weeks of learning in this module helped me understand the operations of most NGOs and other societies (enterprises) as we came to the conclusion of the module in preparation for exams.

This month marks the end of my second year second semester. Come September 5th, I will be two years old at Cavendish University and I will be left with one year to graduate (according to the course schedule by the institution). My end of semester exams are starting August 31 and ending September 5th. Thereafter, will be on vacation for one month and resume classes October, if all things are equal that is or if all goes well according to the institutional academic program for 2009. I am otherwise hoping to do well in my exams for my CAs are so far encouraging. They are all As. In conclusion I look forward to writing my exams and long to starting my third year this October.

ii – PERSONAL ACTIVITIES

My Portuguese classes had continued and they are progressive also. This session is not only helping me learn or gain the Portuguese skills but it is also helping me associate with the rest of the Angolan community residing in Lusaka. I am at least widening up my network and my friendship. Besides, Portuguese, I have also continued learning French at Peace Centre (an initiative in Lusaka to help urban refugees acquire basic skills). Although I will be on vacation in my formal studies (university studies) I will continue attending or going for my French and Portuguese classes. This implies that I will not leave Lusaka during my school vacation on the ground that I would not want to miss out in my French and Portuguese classes.

iii – MISCELLANEOUS

I had FEF – U classes this month for about two weeks. In them included classes on formal debate, and interesting enough had I a chance to participate in a debate. It was an amazing opportunity again to do a debate since the last time I had debate sessions at my former High school in the Refugee camp.
