i – SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

I resumed class on 5th August, 2009. I really enjoy all the classes that I am taking in this semester. I collected my results for the PUF supplementary exams and I cleared.

During lectures this month we have covered different topics in the following modules:

  • Business Administration;
    • Nature of an organization; tall organization whereby you can find more than four levels of positions, and flat organization with less than four levels. This will always depend on the size of the organization.
    • Organizational structure; regional structure: in this structure we have line and staff organization. Functional based structure: it refers to line and staff functions
    • Growth of the organization; we looked at different factors such as: Alliance, mergers, joint venture and takeover.
    • Production: Factors of production: land, labor, capital, entrepreneurship.
    • Organizational culture: Its concept and importance. Through this module, I am now able to understand the nature of an organization and the way it should work. I tried to think of some organizations that I have seen and heard about in my life, and came up to understand why their structures were some how different.
  • Microeconomics;
    • Introduction to microeconomics: economic system, opportunity cost, methodology
    • Demand and supply analysis: Law of demand, Individual demand, Market demand, Movement, along and shifts of the demand curve, and Price determination. I really enjoyed it because it reflects practical situations, how the interaction of demand and supply determines the price of commodities in the market, when the price rises and falls.
  • Financial Accounting
    • Conceptual framework: Meaning and application.
    • Regulatory framework: Meaning, International Accounting Standard Board (IASB), International Accounting Standards (IASs) / International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs).
    • Adjustments to financial statement: Stock and depreciation.
  • Information systems and theory;
    • Introduction to IT,
    • Computer generation and types: microcomputer, midrange, and mainframe.
    • Levels of management: strategic level, tactical level, and operational level.
  • Managing Communication and professional development;
    • Academic witting skills: how to write your essay or any other academic work such assignments.
    • Carrier development: Self manage planning; I found that there are different types of learners, and as a student, once one identifies his/her category or types, it is advisable to practice it in the learning period.

ii – PERSONAL ACTIVITIES

Aside from going to school to find;

  • I attended night classes with Audrey.
  • I attended personal meetings with Audrey.
  • I entertained myself with some of my hobbies: going for a walk with friends, watching TV and movies,
  • I did also some of the daily work: going to the market to buy food and prepare when I was on schedule.

iii – MISCELLANEOUS

I often talk to my family, they are doing fine. Many thanks and may good bless you.
