i – SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

At the beginning of this month, I went on mid term break for two weeks, from 1st to 15th September. The two week break was very busy with a bunch of assignments. I resumed class on 16th September, 2009. I attended and really enjoyed all the lectures.

During lectures this month we have covered different topics in the following modules:

  • Business Administration;
    • Finance; the need for short, medium and long-term finance, Sources of finance, Techniques of investment appraisal. .
    • People at work; the role of human resource management in the organization, human resource planning.
    • Stages in human resources planning; corporate objectives, demand for human resources, supply of labor, operational plans.
    • Meeting Human Resources requirements; recruitment, training and development, promotion and redeployment, pay and productivity, retirement and redundancy.
    • Recruitment and selection; the aim of recruitment, the legal environment, legislation and requirements regarding recruitment, recruitment policies and procedures, recruitment policy statement, questions to be addressed while hiring people.
    • Situational factors for recruitment; internal and external recruitment process, alternatives to recruitment.

    I enjoy the most this module. It really gives a clear vision of what exactly human resources management is in an organization. There are things that I used to do while working for FORGE, without knowing any theory of them, and sometimes do wrong. But now through this module, I get a clear vision of what I was doing and correct myself on some of the things I was doing wrong.

    • Disequilibrium.
