This monthly report indicates the main school, personal and miscellaneous activities that took place within the month September.

i - SCHOOL ACTIVITIES:

The following topics were covered in all the five modules, namely, Development Economics, Industrial Economic, Labor Economics, Money and Banking and Research Methodology for this semester.

Economic Development:

In this module, the following topics were covered:

  • Nature of Development Economics in different parts of the world.
  • The New Economics View of Development.
  • Three core values of Development.
  • The Central Role of Women in Development.

Among all these topics, personally, I’m in strong support of the economists who believe that sidelining women in any Economic activity has a gross negative impact on development of any human society. This is a great challenge to me and all those in underdeveloped countries to consider a serious policies and actions that will lead our women to be part and parcel of the development, if we really want to catch up with the developed world.

Labor Economics:

  • Why Employers’ demand for Labor.
  • Labor Supply to an Occupation.
  • Demand, Supply and Wages.
  • Departures from pure Completion.

From the above topics, I’m so much impressed by the first topic “Why Employers demand for labor”, this in tells the fact that, generally Employers are interested in the skills the will lead to increased productivity in their firms, industries and organization Not just matter of making people employed and earning income. For one to compete favorably in labor market, there is serious need in perfecting once skills in a competitive field in the Economy.

Industrial Economics:

  • Production Under Monopoly Market.
  • Factor Determining elasticity of demand and Supply of Labor.
  • Production Cost Analysis.

The above topics are equally important and useful in any day-to-day life of and individual or a company. However, in my opinion, Monopoly has a lot of demerits than merits bearing in mind that in most cases consumers do not have powers to choice of the goods and services offered by a monopoly. For example some state run company such electricity and water companies decides on when and when not to supply the commodity yet it is a basic need to the people.

Money and Banking:

  • Role of Financial Systems in the Economy.
  • A Sketch of Banking History.
  • Financial Institutions.
  • The Role of financial Institutions.

Financial systems and institutions plays a great role in bridging and enabling the poor to access funds and the Rich to lend funds in a clear, official and transparent manners. Hence, presence of many financial institutions in a country may be an indication of great prospects to economic development.

Research Methodology:

  • The Nature of Research in Business and Management
  • The Purpose and objectives of Research.
  • Research Continuum.

In addition to the topics covered in each module, we had tests in all the five modules.

ii - PERSONAL ACTIVITIES

  • Ridding Bicycle.
  • Maintaining personal sanitation.
  • Listing to music and news.
  • Plying Chess.
  • Having time with my wife.
  • Watching Television.
  • Reading novels and newspapers.
  • Plying Frisbee.
  • Helping my wife with Domestic duties.

iii – MISCELLANEOUS:

Generally, everything is good, both on Academic and social aspects.
