i – SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
The month of October was kind of busy with assignments, but I was able to submit all on due dates. I attended and enjoyed all lectures without failure.
During lectures this month, we have covered different topics in the following modules:
Business Administration;
- Channel of distribution: Direct versus Indirect system.
- Intensive distribution
- Exclusive distribution
- Selective distribution.
- Role of a manger and management style. In this topic, we discussed mostly the role of a manager in an organization as for the entity to reach the goal planned.
- Small and large enterprises; the advantages and disadvantages of small and large enterprises in terms of productivity and future plans.
Microeconomics;
- Theory of production: How can a firm be productive in the long run and short run?
- Production function: The quantity of inputs and outputs per period of time.
- Marginal function: Diminishing marginal productivity.
- Isoquants: The combination of two inputs to produce a given level of outputs.
- Returns to scale: Reduction and increasing in returns to scale. This depends on inputs used.
- Equilibrium of firm.
Financial Accounting;
- Accruals and Payment: Accrual expenses and prepaid expenses.
- Irrecoverable debts and Allowances.
- Writing off irrecoverable debts.
- Allowances for receivable.
- Preparation of financial statement for the sol traders.
- Workings: Closing inventory, administrative expenses, accruals, and prepayment.
Information systems and theory;
- Data communication: How can data be handled within an organization in order to come up with a productive output.
- Networking: The types of networks and how they work: Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), and Metropolitan Area Network (MAN).
Managing Communication and professional development;
- Group dynamics and its importance within an organization.
- Networking: How to make a network and use of it.
- Problem solving: Stages in problem solving. I really enjoyed this topic. And it was very helpful for me to know the stages of the problem solving. I some times intend to solve the problems before I analyze and understand it, which results all the time in frustration or solving a problem by creating another problem unknowingly.
As a leader or manager, you have first to identify the causes (what) of the problem, analyze and understand the problem, rather than knowing first who did it.
- Individual presentations on different topics that every student was given to research on.
ii – PERSONAL ACTIVITIES
- I attended to a small party organized at FORGE house for Paul leaving.
- I went to church on Sundays.
- I attended night classes with Audrey.
- I attended personal meetings with Audrey.
- I entertained myself with some of my hobbies: going for a walk with friends, watching TV and movies, going for a run…
- I did also some of the daily work: going to the market to buy food and prepare my meal.
- I did some of the samasource works on my free time.
