i. SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

Classes where quite busy during the all this month with very interactive activities among students on Sundays. What we do together include programming practices and discussions about class topics that we together decide on. The class is composed of 10 people and we have been divided into three groups that work together and share ideas, we often do practical work in groups and that helps all of us lean from each other unlike it was when we were just two of us.

Programming with Java

The Programming Java module has completed the skills needed in website designing, we have covered quite interesting topics to help us in the IT profession as we go out of school.

Marketing Strategy

Marketing strategy will help us assess the market in order to their needs in this changing technology environment. It has given us an insight of what we should expect when dealing with our IT services to satisfy the needs of our customers. Although it is a business administration course, it will help us have an idea on what we should consider to have the business running in case we start our own business or are given the management of IT businesses. It is quite an interesting topic and the lecturer’s method of teaching methods take us even deep in the marketing world.

E-commerce

As the purchasing and selling world goes digital, e-commerce is gaining a key role in the developing world. Africa is still virgin in terms of electronic commerce; this is because of the lack of basic transaction facilities such as road networks and banking systems that represent the framework for e-commerce. Knowing the importance of e-commerce on the economic side as well as living conditions of the people, will help us have policies made in favor of the use of information technology as a contributing if not indispensable element for development in Africa in particular and the developing world in general.

Computer Ethics

As IT professionals, skills gained in computer ethics and professionalism will help us cope with IT related issues professionally and consider ethics whenever working with IT related project. We have so far gained skills on how we can handle intellectual property rights, patents and certificates in our profession.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence will help us find solutions to our own problems from the local market. Because it is all about finding better ways of doing things and or automating them to easy things or get better results, if Africans can be able to find solution to their problems in terms of automation and artificial intelligence then development will be boosted. We are anyway exposed to an environment that will allow us to respond to the local demand because we lack necessary resources in most African countries.

ii. PERSONAL ACTIVITIES

I am planning to get an attachment with one of the IT companies where most of my classmates (the ones we found in the weekend class) are working. This will help me gain work experience.

iii. MISCELLANEOUS

Nothing important to mention
