i – SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

I resumed classes on January 4th this year and all has been running smoothly as per school schedule. My classes in the six modules have been as expected and they went on greatly.

I had a good start of an interesting case study with Zambia Civic Education Association for my Case study module. It was a wonderful exposure and had a chance to understand the importance of civic education in our society. Am yet to continual with this case study till the end of this semester. My group and I will be conducting a closure study of the way this association is operating and by the end of this semester will be able to provide a recommendation paper to the organization on areas they need to improve. This is a university approach to familiarise students to the way things are running in the industry. This approach has mutual benefits between us and the organizations, for we will be providing some sort of consultancy service to the organizations – in relation to what they do and academic theories.

In the month of January, I have managed to successfully write two research proposals as required by the institution. This will be my road map to be able to write the final dissertation by next semester. In gathering literature for review in my proposals, I had a chance to visit Non – Governmental Organization Coordinating Council (NGOCC) for information on gender issues. It was another rewarding interaction with the members of stuff from this organization and I picked keen interest in wanting to volunteer with them while doing my last semester of studies. This will help me write my dissertation.

I as well visited the Environmental Council of Zambia for information on environment and waste management. I gathered good material for my literature review.

In my Human research and Gender classes, I had a chance to make class presentations on Career Development and Planning, and Gender Issues in Work Places, respectively. It was a great chance to exercise my public speaking and teaching skills.

A topic on employee performance, monitoring and evaluation in my performance motoring module gave me a good understanding on how to go about organization productivity in terms of employee performance.

In my communication for development support module, I got introduced to social communication and ethics in communication.

ii – PERSONAL ACTIVITIES

I did not have a lot of personal activities besides spending time with friends, watching soccer and movies. My French classes have not yet started. I will not start till I get a recommendation letter from the institution were I took my first and second levels from, hopefully by the beginning of February.

iii – MISCELLANEOUS

January is the middle month of my third year first semester. I am left with a month and some weeks to write my exams and go on semester break.
