Before FORGE Health Services (FHS) began, it was previously called FORGE Aids Awareness Program (FAAP). In this project I used to teach the community about HIV/AIDS, about basic facts, opportunistic infections, transmission, treatment, prevention, counseling, etc. Then the project changed to FHS, and even the programmes changed to help the general health of people in Meheba.
In this project we asses the community health needs through home visits, and identify vulnerables far distances in the field who are not aware of health facilities in the settlement. We help them to identify their health problems and refer them to the nearest health centers for further investigation and treatment. FHS stopped providing medicine because we lack the proper equipments to conduct screening management and do not have the tools used for testing to find the right problem and the right treatment.
In addition, we offer workshops on various topics depending on the needs of a particular community. The education we provide may be on some diseases like malaria or STIs, or on other problems like nutrition, dehydration, or family planning. For this education, the community is deeply appreciative of FORGE for the health services they are providing to them.
