Summary of project status and achievements:
The libraries are all currently conducted Question & Answer quizzes, with the exception of A-basic library. The game seems to be going well and will now be held, simultaneously at each library, every other month. Prizes such as soaps and toothbrushes are given out to the 1 or 2 winners from each block.
The PM has been exploring the possibility of closing 2 or 3 of the libraries. The libraries in question are A-basic, C, and F. As for A-basic and C, these libraries only attract minimal visitors each month. Additionally, both libraries are located in Basic Schools and can easily be opened by teachers of the school during school hours for students to visit. The PM is not suggesting the withdrawal of the books from the library, only the withdrawal of a FORGE-paid employee. As for the F library, it is located in the same room as the school’s Teacher Room and is always open regardless of whether our employee is present or not. The PM plans to meet with each of the headmasters before making a decision, and is waiting for them to return from school holiday. If F library remains open, the PM will most probably need to fire the F librarian, who has proved unable to do the job on several occasions, and hire a replacement.
Future activities and projections:
A new shipment of books just arrived from Lusaka. In the coming month, the PM will inventory those books, approximately 15 boxes, and will distribute them to the different libraries. All of the Question and Answer quiz games are scheduled to end in mid-May and prizes will be distributed.
The PM is holding a librarians meeting on May 8th to discuss the possibility of closing certain libraries with all of the staff members.
Substantial problems or issues:
The A-basic headmaster left for the school holiday in early April, taking the only key to the A-basic library with him. Because of this, the librarian was unable to open the library for the entire month.
