Meheba Friendly Libraries - July 2009

posted 03/23/10 15:31:12 by

Summary of project status and achievements:

In July the libraries concluded the most recent round of quizzes and the prizes of soap were given out on July 15th. Membership increased in the Block F library both in new student memberships and community memberships. New books were delivered to all of the libraries at the beginning of July as well. Each library received at least three boxes of books.

Future activities and projections:

The volunteers that will be coming in August have expressed interest in working with the libraries. The Project Manager is eager to work with the volunteers and library staff to create programs to attract visitors to the libraries over the school break and to help students continue their learning while school is not in session. As well, flip-flops have been donated by the Flip-Flop Foundation to Nick in Lusaka. We discussed using them as the prizes for the library quizzes as a fair way of distributing them. This will help to renew interest in the quizzes as the prizes have been the same for several rounds.
