Meheba Friendly Libraries - August 2009

posted 03/23/10 15:38:14 by

Summary of project status and achievements:

In August many libraries were visited by The Book Bus volunteers. The volunteers worked with school children to read children’s books and do creative projects. Many of the children’s books were donated to the libraries when they left. The Library Coordinator is working with the librarians to catalog these books.

Future activities and projections:

The project manager and Library Coordinator along with the ‘F’ Librarian, are working together to design a training for librarians that will take place the third week of September. This training will concentrate on a program that was previously done in the ‘F’ Library involving reading circles. As well we are hoping to begin a book review process that will highlight different books in each library.

September will also begin a new round of quizzes. The quiz questions are due to the project manager on September first and the actual round will begin September 20th.

Indicators and statistics:

Please see attached M&E spreadsheet.

Substantial problems or issues:

None at this time.

Wishes or requests:

It has been brought up by several libraries that people are requesting higher level books. Specifically I have heard requests for business management books.

There are continued requests from the libraries regarding periodicals and current events. The project manager is looking into the possibility of putting radios in the libraries to help with the issue of current events.

Budget:

Please see expense monitor. Note that this month 50,000zmk was used from the Library budget to pay Bartholomew, the FEF Employee who also spends two days a week as a librarian.
