Summary of project status and achievements:
This month the PM began working with the management of Meheba B Basic School to negotiate the handover of the library from FORGE to the school. The FORGE librarian, Yona, resigned from his position on October 7, 2009 and the decision was made to initiate the handover rather than hire a new FORGE librarian. The school was very receptive to this idea, although they were sad to see the FORGE librarian go. They made it very clear that they have enjoyed and benefited from the partnership with FORGE and have seen the library grow in attendance and available book numbers since FORGE began operating. The handover will begin in November and FORGE will continue providing consultation until May of 2010, at which time the library will pass solely to the school if the terms of the handover are met.
Future activities and projections:
The PM will continue sustainability discussions with the librarians and will continue consulting with the B Library. In November a training has been scheduled with all of the librarians to train on library operations as well as additional programming to be done during the school break in December.
