FMI Agro Project Coordinator Blog- June 2009 (Note - This blog was written by the refugee Project Coordinator for this project. As English is not his first language, there may be some minor grammatical errors in his writing. Care was taken to clarify any passages that were confusing, while leaving most of the blog untouched in order to preserve his original tone.)

The agriculture is a principal tool of rural development. This is because it plays a great role in investment productive, it also contributes to large measurement of poverty eradication. The agriculture supplies food to the humanity as its first aim; it intervenes in the financial development by its contribution to earning and it produces the first materials for several industries.

In Meheba Refugee Settlement, staple foods are produced in small quantities on which the demand is very high. While deficits are too far to be covered, that’s due to means and efforts being limited. The agriculture FMI skills the farmers on how to grow maize successfully. Now that the harvest has occurred, I am happy to report that for the second time our farmers have been very successful and they are able to send some of their children to school and able to secure food in their homes.

Kindly, I as an Agro-loan coordinator and loan officer would like to extend my wish to the donors and supporters. It is not a loss to invest in the community who have the spirit of entrepreneurship and through that they can create empowerment and jobs. Finally, I would like to request from the donors and supporters to continue supporting the project which is helping and playing a big role in poverty eradication I said by providing farmers with fertilizer and seed for good production of crops.
